Pro-Tech Seal Inc

Pro-Tech Seal Manufacturing, Inc. is one of Canada’s largest suppliers of rust-protection coating and anti-theft marking insurance. Over 400 auto-repair and insurance dealers across Canada work with their manufactured products. Pro-Tech Seal products were first introduced to the automobile dealer network in 1986.

The Project

Pro-Tech Seal Manufacturing, Inc. requested a customized integrated software solution that would automate their business processes. With over 4,000 annual contracts faxed and mailed into the offices of Pro-Tech Seal, three full-time data entry operators were required in order to enter this information into their Windows-based Java application. At this time, the order and contract processing rate was slow, and the margin of errors was quite high. CitySoft Solutions were contracted at this point in order to provide the solution.

A CitySoft Solution

Problem: Three full-time data entry employees entered all data from paper forms into an outdated Windows-based Java application. Process was time-consuming and the rate of errors was substantially high.
Solution: CitySoft Solutions built a web-based application for dealers to enter contract information online and integrated the current Java application’s database into the new web-based system. CitySoft Solutions then developed an adjoining application from Access to Java and integrated this new application into the web-based application for the contracts.
Result: The ordering process was now automated. Employee labor hours were reduced, the order/execution process rate doubled, and the margin of error was now low.

Problem: The company hardware and software was outdated and sometimes incorrect for the purposes of the business. Servers were not properly backed up or secured.
Solution: CitySoft Solutions conducted a network audit in order to review all software and hardware used, in order to make recommendations to Pro-Tech Seal based on their business needs. CitySoft Solutions then purchased and implemented a Windows 2003 server with off-site backup storage and corporate anti-virus solutions, upgraded all PCs and migrated AccPac for DOS from a Linux-based operating system to Windows.
Result: The company software and hardware was now cutting edge, fitting to the needs of the business. Incase of information loss, data was now backed up off-site, and available at anytime. All confidential information was now protected through several corporate-level anti-virus security software systems.
